Fortunately, the Wikipedia process paid off and a number of advocates came out of the woodwork to not only champion the listing, but to actually greatly improve it!

This kind of community policing and reinforcement gives me great faith in these kind of initiatives — and in the continued success of open models of participation. Interestingly, Dan Fost refers to BarCamps as “those un-conferences organized in wiki format” in his retelling of this near-brush with deletion.
